Follow each other vs Follow on from each other

How would you say this sentence grammatically?

- The show didn't have a storyline until the 3rd season. The first 2 season, each episode was it's own entity, as of season 3 the show developed a storyline and each episode followed on from the last.

Thank you

The simpliest correction is as follows (divide into two sentences or use a semicolon). Boldface is new wording; crossouts are deletions. The show didn't have a storyline until the 3rd season.
