I have seen both, does usage vary according to what comes next or are they interchangeable?

I can't think of an example where "focused in X" would be chosen over "focused on X." I believe "focused on" is the correct choice.
Most Google examples of "focused in" parse differently, like "Can we remain focused in 2009?"
