"The bank hired a research firm to hold focus groups with Canadians to get their opinion on the new currency."

What is "to hold focus groups"? Should it have been "to hold focus group MEETINGS"?

Does it mean besides:

"to hold information groups"

,I could also write:

"to hold focus people"
"to hold information people"

since a group could be made up of people?

Hi,

No. The idea is that people focus on a product and offer their opinions.

'Focus group' is a technical term in the world of marketing, and cannot simply be reworded.
