1/ What is the difference in meaning between:

1. He warned that too many City fund managers are focused on short-term performance instead of understanding how businesses could be better run for the long haul.

2/ In short, how to distinguish the use of the adjectif focused and the verb focus?

3/ Can I think in (1), focused is sinply a verb used in the passive? Why?

1) focused here is the particle form of the verb, also used as an adjective it describes the state (of the mind) of those managers, their mind is well focussed 2) this is verb (simple past) it describes the action of those managers, they were pointing/focussing their attention on something You just have to read more, including grammar books. 3) No, IMO, the passive is mainly a result of someone else on you, not of yourself on you. But it could be seen at the limit that way.
