foam and froth

Could anyone tell me what's the difference between "foam" and "froth"?

Dictionary gives the same meaning for both the words. Please you help me with this.

Where there is no difference in their general characteristics, they are usually interchangeable, but I suppose they sometimes have preferential uses. I think of froth as less appealing than foam, generally.
