When listening to a radio station eg on cellphone. (Do I need to use period in eg?)

Is this sentence common?

The frequency doesn't quite fit, you need to fine-tune it.

Anonymous Do I need to use period in eg? Some people write "eg" without periods, and it is recognised in various dictionaries. I do not personally feel happy with it.

I feel the same. I do not use periods in abbreviations. The only exceptions to this are e.g. and i.e., which seem naked without them.
