Fly well

Hi,
I came across this expression "I may do something that may not fly well with someone" online. This "fly well" is just a part that I don't really understand. I goggled, but it didn't work. Could you tell me about this?

Thank you, chipw. Now I understand the meaning.

That is mostly used in the past tense and with a negative word. Is this interpretation right?
