fly return meaning

Hi, I have a question about the meaning of this sentence.

"I want to fly return from NY to Sydney in July". What does this mean? Does it mean that the person want to have a flight back to Sydney? Or He simply wants a return ticket?

Thanks a lot.

No. If he is asking for a return flight NY to Sydney, he is flying out of NY to Sydney, then returning, Sydney to NY. The request is not expressed very well.

In the US, the customer would ask for a "round-trip ticket" from NY to Sydney during the month of July. This means he wants to travel from NY to Sydney and back during the month of July.
