fluorescent lamp

I used to be called a 'fluorescent lamp' -
slow in reacting.
"You are a fluorescent lamp, aren't you?"
"Fluorescent lamp? What do you... Oh, I see."
"See?"
Something like that.
Do you have any euphemistic expression for
slow reaction?

BTW, 'fluorescent lamp' is rather long and hard to pronounce. Is there a short form?
Thank you.

Hi, Do you have any euphemistic expression for slow reaction? We often say 'He's slow on the uptake', although it's not euphemistic. I think we tend to see slow reaction as related to lower intelligence, so most of the things we say relate to both characteristics.

Not the brightest bulb in the chandelier?
Hmm. That doesn't emphasize the "slow reaction" idea enough.
