My baby was moving his arms around busily to imitate a policeman directing traffic. Is the following sentence gramatically correct?

You could say "Are you directing the flow of traffic?" "Are you directing flow?" makes no sense.

We're still trying to get used to the idea that you call your three-year-old a baby. Most children of that age are very proud of not being a baby any more! I hope you don't call him that in front of other kids his age! (Or maybe things are very different in your culture.)
