Floor mates / level mates?

Salaam and hi.

If there are terms for group members (teammates) and members living in the same house (housemates), is there any specific term for people living at the same floor /level?

For example,
"Even though we are not housemates, but both of us live at level 10 /at floor 10. That makes us a floor mates/ level mates /or... ?
Does floor mates make sense to you? Sounds funny to me.

Thank you so much Emotion: smile

No special word that I know, but I suppose 'floor mates' is clear enough. The problem is that people living on the same floor are often not sufficiently acquainted to merit the word 'mate': hence, there is no word for the condition.

Wa'alaykum assalaam. What's wrong with "neighbours"?

The thing is we are living in the same apartment. Actually, it is more to making a joke.

For example, somebody asked me this question.

"Oh, so both of you are living in ***. Are you guys housemates?".

So, to make a joke, instead of directly doubting it, I wanted to say, "We are not housemates, we are floor mates".

Neighbours is correct, but not for

You could say, “No, but we live on the same floor.” That would sound funny. But, even “floor mates” would also serve the purpose. Remember, there is no grammar for humour. I can assume the role of “Gollum” from “The Lord of Rings” for a moment and say, “You MAKES me laugh!” wink
