Can I say,

The floor / ground was wet because it rained heavily just now. Sudden;y a boy slipped and fell in the river.

Hi Vincent, The difference between floor and ground is that one is made by man (floor) and the other by Mother Nature (ground). The ground was wet because it rained heavily. BUT Because of the hole in the roof, the floor was wet after it rained heavily.

BUT

Because of the hole in the roof, the floor was wet after it rained heavily.
