Flood out

This is a hypothetical scenario. I remove my contact lenses before showering.

"I stepped into a shower and turned on the tap. I hadn't noticed that the shower head was pointing at the wrong angle so the water splashed into my face and as I had forgotten to taken out my contact lenses, it almost flooded them out."

Is the text okay or would you change anything?
