Can I say,

(a) There were many houses flooded.

(b) The village flooded / was flooded. They took villagers to a dafe / safer place.

(c) Two weeks later, they returned home. They had no no any dangerous.

I'm confusing, we can say:

The houses were flooded. (but why don't we say: The village was flooded?)

I'm confused, The village was flooded?-- This is OK for me.

In fact, these seem fine:

(a) There were many flooded houses. / Many houses (were) flooded.

(b) The village flooded / was flooded. They took the villagers to a safe / safer place.
