Hi

Would you say that these sentences would sound natural in the right context? Any suggestions please?

  1. Some shops in the town were really flaying. (they charged too much)
  2. Some shops in the town were really fleecing. (they charged too much)
  3. Some shops in the town charged exorbitant rates.
  4. Some shops in the town charged insanely.
  5. Some shops in the town charged too much.

Some shops in the town were really fleecing their customers sounds natural to me. (I've never heard it used intransitively.)
