Fizzy drink

Hi there

I am trying to figure out if there are any "noticeable" between

(1) soda water

(2) club water ( what "club" means here? )

(3) mineral water with gas

(4) mineral water with bubbles ( with bubbles - i am curious if adults use this only when talking to kids? or when talking VERY informally?)

(5) carbonated water ( VERY formal? never used in spoken English?)

Is "fizzy drink" applicable to (1) through (5)?

Season's greetings to all!

I would say that "fizzy drink" describes all of those and others as well. The only expression I'm not familiar with is "club water". I would say "club soda".

  • I would say "club soda".
  • "with bubbles" does seem a little childish, but I'm sure some adults also use the expression.
  • "carbonated water" sounds more scientific, but I've heard it used.

I've also heard sparkling water (= mineral water) and sparkling wines. I'm not sure if these are common.
