Fish or fishes?

i learnt the word 'fish' cant be plural but some people say it can...

can i use 'fishes'?

Hi, I had the same question some time ago, I was taught that fish can be singular and plural till I discovered that 'fishes' is used too, for example in scientific papers when you mean many species of fish.
