first time to V (American English)

1. This is my first time to attend the evening service.

2. This is my first time to travel by plane.

According to my knowledge, they are not acceptable in British English.

Are the above sentences acceptable in American English?

Thank you very much for your reply.

Interesting. Curious. I don't use those constructions at all. If anything, I prefer the gerund:

This is my first time [attending the evening service / traveling by plane].

I prefer even more,

I am [attending the evening service / traveling by plane] for the first time today.
