Please could you explain to me what 'speaking in the first, second and third person' means and please use examples.

That means that the person who speaks is you, but you use different personal pronouns. " "We want to go to church". " The pronoun of the 3rd person is hardly used I guess, maybe just in special situations to sound funny.

That means that the person who speaks is you, but you use different personal pronouns.

The usual way is speaking in the first person, of course:
"I should do the dishes now."
"We want to go to church".

You can also use the pronouns of the 2nd person, that is usually used when giving an imperative to yourself:
"You should better do the dishes now!"
