First prime minister

Hello, I'm curious, isn't 'prime' already 'first in something' ? then why are there positions called 'first prime minister' ?

Top answer

I'm not aware that there are such positions. But somone in the past could have been the first prime minister of a country, if there wasn't one before. Liaquat Ali Khan was the first prime minister of Pakistan - before that, there was no such country.
