HiThis is your first point of call in doing ...--- I suppose it means "this is the first thing" or "this is the main thing"?

What does "this" seem to refer to in the context? I would expect "first point of call" to refer to a place or person where you could find initial guidance or information, or make initial progress. However, I'm not certain that "point of call" is actually a known idiomatic phrase. It may be a confusion between "port of call" and "point of" something else, such as "point of contact".

That is not a natural collocation.

First port of call (the first port where a ship docks on its itinerary)
First point of order (the first subject to be discussed in a meeting)
First order of business (The first thing you have to do in any endeavor)

I would more or less understand it that way too, but the word "first" does emphasise that this is the starting point, or basis, which is slightly different from the "most important thing".
