First, firstly -- different preference

I found some native speakers like to say firstly, secondly, thirdly instead of first, sencond etc..
Why is so?

Hi, I think it is a question of different dialects: British English is usually in favor of firsly, secondly, thirdly and lastly , whereas American English prefers first, second, third and finally . Regards
