If I get a scholarship, I can/could go abroad. I often hear could in this context in spoken English, and I wonder if it's grammatically correct. Shouldn't could be used if the if conditional is with got instead of get. As in: If I got a scholarship, I could go abroad. Is it okay to overlook these rules of grammar in spoken expression?

I can. I could. These are pretty basic formulas that I think should not be overlooked at any time.
