why do the acedemic writing standards usually condemn the use of first and second person pronouns

An academic paper is supposed to be an objective report on some topic, not your personal opinion about it. In other words, unless you are a famous researcher or authority in a given field, nobody who reads your paper will have the slightest interest in what your opinions are. I and you are typically words used in ordinary conversation -- chit-chat, gossip.
