What verbs can be used with "firecracker" to refer to the action of setting off a "firecracker" ?

"I wanted to light a firecracker."

What about "actuate" and "set off" ?

"Set off" can be used with the word "firework",the example which is used in Macmillan Dictionary is " Somebody was setting off fireworks down the street" ".

Regarding the verb "actuate" is more likely used with machines.
