I read the following in today's Helsingin Sanomat, Finland's biggest daily newspaper.  It was written by Kimmo Oksanen, a Helsingin Sanomat reporter.I was asked at the box office of New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art what my nationality was.  The museum took an interest in the nationality of its visitors."I'm Finnish.""What's the name of the country?""Finland.""Finland...?" The woman was checking her alternatives. "Where is it?""In Scandinavia.""Does it have neighboring countries?""Russia, Sweden, Norway, Estonia.""We don't have Finland. Is it all right if I put you down as Russian?""No.""Sweden?""No.""In that case I'll put you down as English."

anyone who says, 'americans' or any '-ans' or '-ese' type words is clearly the ignorant one. the world was once known as flat. just because something is known for something does not make that thing itself true of it. even science is only as good as the tools they have for measuring them. and, by the way, geography is not the most important thing in the world to know. furthermore, we, americans, don't need to know geography. tell me one reason why it is important to know geography, especially in an ever increasing global society. isn't it better to realize we are all on earth? or maybe divisions of land are your cup of tea. not mine. finally, the world comes to america. we know more about you than you know about us. you, you can keep watching your tv, your hollywood ideas, with miss america being stupid, or those youtube links which have edited videos of americans who clearly are not educated and perhaps even mentally disabled, and apply that to the rest of us....us, the ones who make the movies, manage wall street, make the computer and host the venture capital hub of the world.

you, are the ignorant one. we, we americans, you will never really know.

I seems to me that you are doing the same thing with 'Non-Americans' as others do with 'Americans'.
