Finished/finish - tense agreement

Hi guys,

Just to double check this:

"Personally I would prefer to wait until they finished, but it's up to you".

OR

"Personally I would prefer to wait until they finish, but it's up to you".

I am referring to an ongoing present situation. Personally I think "finished" agrees better with the rest of the sentence, but "finish" sounds correct too.

Thank you

I would prefer to wait counts as present time. Therefore, the until -clause needs either the present or the present perfect tense. Write until they finish or until they have finished .
