Finding out your pupil´s English level

Hi there,

I´m going to give private lessons in English to different pupils (aged from 6 to 17) and I can´t think what would be a good exercise to find out everyone´s level... I don´t want to bore them the very first day!
A little quiz would do for the 12-17? Any ideas?

THANKS IN ADVANCE

Hello Reme, I think that the best way to find out your students' level is by means of a quiz. According to the results you can have an idea of how much they know and what they are bad at. A little conversation afterwards is not a bad idea either.

Thanks a lot for your reply Novalee. I think it will be useful to introduce ourselves they way you´ve proposed. And then, the quiz.

Thanks again
