We all know going to college is expensive. From what I know about Financial Aid, the parents’ income is taken into account when determining how much assistance a student needs. In most students’ cases, their parents have set aside money to help pay the way. Since my mom is an RN, they assume that she will be paying for a large portion of my college. My mom seems to make a lot of money, but after paying off her own student loans, other loans, mortgage, living expenses, insurance, etc., she does not have any extra cash to help me financially. My dad has no income whatsoever, so he is completely out of my financial equation. With no outside help paying for college, I am going to have to work more hours, and in turn, take less credits. I would like to be able to cut back on my work hours, and devote my time to my studies, but that will be difficult when besides college, I am paying for my living expenses. If I were to get some financial help, I would be able to cut back my hours, and devote the needed time to my education.
