Financial education should be a mandatory component of the school program. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Some people think that the educational system should put financial lecture on the semester of students as a required subject. This essay will explain some reasons why I agree with a portion of this statement.

On the one hand, there are some reasons for why financial lesson should be taught in the school. First of all, finance is obviously an indispensable aspect in every portion of our lives, but this aspect is not been straightforward by students. In other words, financial knowledge should be considered as one of the most crucial subjects, because it plays a vital role in today’s modern society. As a result, by learning it, the students are able to gain the knowledge and understand the function and the importance of that aspect in daily life. Second of all, teaching finance at school, it may be a positive way for students in order to contact or cope with the issues, investments or making decisions related to sum in the future. This way lead them to lay the foundation for addressing problems, financial decisions or earning extra money and it is not only having that function, student, who want to open an enterprise in the future, can make their business have good investments and make financial decisions wisely.

On the other hand, beside these advantages, putting finance into the school program also has some drawbacks. Firstly, most of the students are not able to understand this element of life comprehensively at their age. The reason for that they are still very young and they do not have any experiences about using and understanding money properly, therefore they may think that they do not need to worry about the finance, while their parents can think without the help from them. Secondly, in school program, the pupils have to learn a lot of subject, particularly maths, literature, science, geography or history, the burden on their shoulders would be added if the financial subject was taught. This burden is able to lead the students to create negative attitudes like having more stressful when going to school.

In conclusion, teaching finance at school may be good or may have problems as well. I recommend that, we should teach that aspect of daily life for students after they finish three basic level of study – primary school, secondary school and high school.
