FINANCIAL DIFFICULTIES?? 2 sentences please help

How would you properly say this sentence?

1 She is capable of putting herself is finicial diffficulty to help others out. She is so giving.

Could you tell me if these 2 sentences sound natural?

That hair color is more of a blond than a hazel color./That's more of a elbow rest than anything else. (about something on the side of the couch but that doesn't exactly look lke an armrest)
