finally/eventually

Please distinguish between eventually and finally?

1.) He worked hard as a teacher, and eventually got the promotion he was expecting.

2.) He worked hard as a teacher, and finally got the promotion he was expecting.

1.) and 2.) have a same meaning, if yes, what is a difference?

any other example can show their difference clearly?

Thanks a lot
