Films/scripts I thought were great (but seems everyone else hated)

I find it's always a good idea to destroy your credibility with your peers - especially when you've only just joined the gang. But bollocks to it.
Following the continuing debate about whether Cutthroat Island was great (PJJ) or shite (everyone else) made me think about films I've enjoyed but everyone else hated.
Not to reopen an old debate, but I'm one of those who believes Lost In Translation is a fantastic film, and that the s.p deserved the Oscar. I enjoyed Deep Blue Sea and Godzilla. I'll watch Last Action Hero whenever it comes on the TV. Rocky II and Scream 2 are two of the great sequels. First Blood one of the great flicks of the 80s.

Have I embarrassed myself enough? No doubt there are even worse ones which I'll admit to as and when I remember them.
Who's brave enough to confess theirs?

At the only screenwriter lecture I've ever been to (Michael Hague, and very interesting it was) we were asked to nominate a recent or fairly recent film which had particularly impressed us. My choice, to general derision, was Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves.

(But what did they know? We also had to state our profession, and I was the only one present who actually said "writer"...)

S.O.B.
Actually, there's some interesting stuff (subtext in First Blood, satire in LAH) in the scripts you mention. And you don't mention whether you enjoyed Deep Blue

Does that put you in the minority? When I first watched it, I thought it was so-so. But after hearing such universal praise for it, I decided I had to see it again (why is it just me?). On second viewing, I decided all the praise was deserved. It really is fantastic, in my revised

Yeah, I agree with you. I have always liked "Last Action Hero". And I rewatch it whenever I stumble upon it on television.

And I also like the original TREMORS. It's cheesy, but I really like it.
But probably my absolute worst (best?) guilt pleasure movie is...

(Prepare to groan, nearly everyone does)...

Oh, then you answered my question from my other reply. I wasn't aware of any widespread fondness for it.

I think there *is* a lot of fondness for it. Includes me.
