Films you never saw ...

... but feel as though you have.
Some films are so ingrained in the cultural zeitgeist, that you kind of know the gist of them even though you've never watched them all the way through.
Example: I've never seen "Soylent Green," but I know it's about cannabalism and features Charleton Heston.
Never saw "2001: A Space Odyssey" but get some of the references to HAL and the monkeys made in later films.
Kind of know the gist of "Braveheart" and "Ghost Busters," though I've maybe seen 10 minutes of each.
What films have been referenced so often that you feel you know the stories, even though you've never seen the movie?

That would be The Graduate, though the older woman character in question is, indeed, Mrs. Robinson.

Well, I'm not really sure, but sometimes I'll tell people; "Frankly my dear, I don't give a ****"...but I've never watched Gone With The Wind.
I do keep discovering all these old movies that I've never seen before though.

It was very brave of you to 'fess up to Braveheart. I've never seen it either, or Soylent Green, for that matter. I have, however, seen every other movie ever made

[nq:1]Soylent Green is a surprisingly good movie undone by a twist ending that should never have been a twist, but ... entire film to a joke because it doesn't actually resolve some of the movie's central conflicts. Still, well worth seeing.[/nq]
Stop me if you've heard this, and know you have, but I met Harry Harrison the author of the book it's based on, and he HATES it!
