THE NOTEBOOK
The tragedy and reality of the film really moved me at certain points.
The two-character fall immediately in love with each other when the girl realizes the boy’s weird hidden characteristic. This great love continues despite the disapproval of the girl’s parents as they are not of the same social status. I was absolutely impressed by the saying in the movie: she is the city girl while he is the country boy and she has the world in her hands while he is nothing. It appears to be normal nowadays for many directors to share the same thoughts and it apparently becomes a popular plot for many dramas, but in “The Notebook”, it is completely different. It is the love that cannot separate them and they accidentally meet each other not through the relationship of a servant and boss, which is very popular in Korean movies.
The story enters my mind via the voice of an old man, whom, at first, I cannot realize is actually Noah. Also, the way this love story is presented to the audience is special: through a notebook as a diary. However, what is worth emphasizing the most is the situation of the main couple now. They are both old and the woman, Allie, has lost her memories. What’s more, she can only remember everything for a very short time and then remains the same in a panicked way.
It is the greatest love that moves me. Regardless of the short time with each other on every single date, they both live to the fullest. Still, I am a little bit confused about Allie’s love and choice when she said: she is a whole new person when she’s with Noah or Ion. I still regard this as one of the most touching films along with “Me before you” or “One day”. My admiration for a beautiful love story has also reminded me of my short life, which urges me to push myself and shoot for everything I want.
