Hello every body, I was just wondering what is the difference between "film" and "movie". Maybe both are exactly the same?

They mean the same thing, i.e. a motion picture.
FILM can also be used as a verb, but MOVIE can't.
FILM also refers to the actual film strip, the rigid transparent material itself, or any thin layer.

Good point. Maybe the rule, if there is one, is that movies take you to a "setting", whether it's a fantasy setting like toyland or outer space, a historical setting, a future setting, etc. If a motion picture has no separate setting (is set in current reality), for example a documentary, interview or news item, you wouldn't call it a movie.
