Fill in the sentences

Hello. I would like to get some help with the following sentences.

I have never been there, but I (have/had) always dreamt of going.

Am I late? What hour (did/has) the lesson (start/started)?

My cousin (has written/has been writing) 10 letters to his gf abroad but she hasn't answered yet.

She begged me to help her because her assistant (didn't/hadn't) showed up. So I (spent/was spending) all day with the infants. Then we (played/were playing) in the yard for about an hour.

She had been working in the garden since 9am. She (didn't stop/hadn't stopped) until I called her.

Thank you very much
