Both fierce and ferocious have same definitions but with different meanings.

Fierce: very angry
Ferocious: savage

Ferocious means violent, dangerous and frightening: A ferocious, hungry tiger. A ferocious battle.

A fierce person/animal is angry and ready to attack, and looks very frightening: A fierce tiger . A fierce guard dog.
