Fiddlesticks!

Settle an argument.
I say that Fiddlesticks was a brand name for a set of pick-up sticks, and my wife claims it was the reverse, that Pick-Up Sticks was a brand of fiddlesticks. Either way, what we called them in my home was "fiddlesticks" and what they called them in her home was "pick-up sticks".

Donna?

They call 'em Mikado over here. And jackstraws in old novels.

Try playing with TESS. They both sound like trademarked names.

Just to go out on a limb and be contrary, but my memory of them (wooden sticks, late 60's UK) is as "pick-up-sticks".

Same here; colored wooden sticks, mid- to late-70's, American household.
