fiancé ?

I am a female and and my fiancé has been selected to a graduate study program in USA. I have also applied to the same program in the same university and I have been asked to a Skype interview by the committee of the university. I have a question. If I say as follows, is it okay? is it a polite way to mention about my fiancé (is it okay to use this word fiancé ) ?

"Dear Sir, My fiance has already been selected to this program, So I also like to come to this university" If this is not a polite way, could you please tell me a polite way to mention this?
