fewer/ less calories

Hello there.

I have a question.

Regarding the two sentences below:

(A) In general, vegetables have fewer calories than meat.
(B) In general, vegetables have less calories than meat.

Are they both fine? Which do you think is more appropriate?

Top answer

seagull Are they both fine? It depends on whom you ask. I am one of those who like to reserve 'less' for uncountable nouns, but it is a 'rule' seldom followed nowadays.
