Few sets and repetitions of .../frequency

Hi

It's from a book about bodybuilding:

Total abdominal sculpture can be achieved only through working out
your midsection at all angles. Few sets and repetitions of varying
angle exercises have more benefit over a hundred crunches that allow
for only a limited number of positions. Stick to a frequency that you’re
comfortable in as comfort is a factor in people’s ability to stay loyal to
their routine.

1. Does it say that it's better to do fewer repetitions and fewer sets, but train your abs at different angles then to just do a lot of crunches?

By the way, does the word "crunches" refer only to lying on your back while doing the exercise? (maybe that's why it says "limited number of positions"?)

2. Does "frequency" in the following sentence refer to the number of reps or sets?

Top answer
