Does this sentence make any sense? I can across it.

1 Whether a person can rein in the desire for the same gender, to a large extend will depend on his upbringing, edification

Is this correct? Is through or throughout correct? Is persona the correct term?

2 An actor has to act a certain way through a show. He has to maintain the same persona that the character possesses in the script. He can't change his way of potraying the caracter halfway throughout the show.

Is from optional?

3 If you look at him upside down/from upside down, he looks so funny.

Are both correct?

4 How would you phrase the sentence to sound natural/ so it sounds natural?
