Essay & Composition Writing

Few comparisons I have written

A dream and a nightmare
A dream is not quite the same as a nightmare. Although they both happen while sleeping, a nightmare can be very frightening, bringing so much discomfort that you might wake up suddenly when having it. A dream on the other hand can be of something pleasant. You may dream of something you have wished to experience or you might see some of your old friends.

High-rise and low-rise buildings
High-rise buildings, as it may be obvious by its name, are substantially taller than low-rise buildings. Consequently, the process of building one of them is substantially different than the other, wheather talking about the blueprint design, the number of construction workers required or the amount of material needed. Additionally, high-rise buildings don't tend to occur but in large cities where there is a large population and high density infrastructure becomes necessary. Low-rise buildings on the other hand are much more common since they are easier to buid.

Human and animal behaviour
Human and animal behaviours are virtually similar. We both instinctintively seek food, care for our children, mate with the other sex. The approaches of doing these activities might vary but the purpose is practically the same. Then again, humans have the brain power to adopt more intelligent methods to make achieving these innate goals possible. Take the fear of death for example, all living things try to protect themselves from dying; however, it goes without saying that humans obviously are much more advanced in doing so. We have hospitals, drugs, specialised people in treating ailments whereas if an animal caught a disease, all it could do is retreating to a refuge and rest there waiting for its fate.

Volcanos and mountains
Volcanos are not entirely the same as mountains. While they may both appear extremely beautiful, volcanos can be quite dangerous. The latters have a tendency to erupt, throwing lava in every direction around them. That is becuase boiling metals from deep layers under the ground dig their way towards the surface and open up at the top of a volcano. Conversaly, mountains usually occur in systems and they stand there in peace providing a fascinating landscape view.

Natural talents and acquired skills
From my point of view, there is no skill that can be programmed naturally into a person. There has to happen some practicing beforehand. Even with basic human actions, children have to be taught how to walk and talk. It is sometimes thought that some people are born with a natural talent of signing, but these singers couldn't have been born capable of signing, could they?

Why dinosaurs went extinct
The most developed theory about the extinction of dinosaurs invovles an enormous asteroid colliding with the earth and making life not possible for most animals on the globe incluuding the dinosaurs.

A catastrophist and a gradualist
A catastrophist may disagree with a gradualist about how the dinosaurs went extinct. A catastrophist might argue that no sooner had the asteroid hit earth than all these reptile like animals died. He might claim that the impact was hard enough to cause different disasters all around the planet. At the same time a gradualist could suggest that the dying of dinosaurs must have been the result of lack of food and suitable environment that slowly killed any chance of survival for these animals.
