Fetch or Pick Up

Situation:

9:00 - 5:00 pm Work
5:30 - 6:00pm Swing by the mall for James, before going home

6:00 - 7:30pm Home

Question:

Will you be picking John up at the mall or will you be fetching John at the mall?

Fetching sounds like what a dog would do to a ball or a tree branch.
Pick up might sound like you're picking up a prostitute.

How else would ya'll say this?

Thanks!

Both are fine; they are synonymous. In dontext, the meanings of neither will be confused with dogs or hookers. "Y'all" sounds ridiculous coming from a Filipino English speaker.

I didn't realize the contraction sounded off-putting. No offense meant by it. Feedback is appreciated.

No offense taken; I am cautioning you against trying to use casual regional English or slang-- it is too often inappropriate. Stick to standard forms; they are always acceptable.

I see. Point taken. Thanks.
