feeling/feelings

Sometimes it is hard to communicate one's feeling/feelings to other people.

Do both feeling and feelings fit in the above context? If yes, do they connote the same meanings? Thanks.

But doesn't feeling indicate what one feels and senses as well as one's thought? Then why can't it work in the context?
