feel the words

Hi,

What does 'feel the words' mean in the context?

"Mary isn't as interested in singing with James as she once was but James tries to convince her that the world needs to see her passion. It sounds like the words to the song don't have an emotional impact on Mary, and therefore when she sings them, people can't hear any emotion in Mary's voice.
