Feel someone to do, doing, or feel do something?

Hi,

I am not sure the time to use all three verb forms after "feel someone".

I happen to see a sentence used in a novel, and it says,"...he had been watching their flight and had suddenly felt himself to have plunged to the Soul of the World."

I hear people say, " i can feel someone talking to me." or " I can feel somone touch me."

Or "feel" verb is a special word that can be used in all three options?
