Feel forced to do

Hello.

"force" and related verbs such as "compel" and "oblige" can be used "feel" in passive sentences.

The central bank felt forced to respond because last week the cost of borrowing for both Spain and Italy soared to record highs, with yields on their 10-year bonds topping 6 percent — a level that could raise the countries’ interest payments to ruinous levels and threaten to undermine the entire euro union. What is the difference "be forced to do" and "feel forced to do"?

Very little really. Be forced to - you have no choice. Feel forced to - you don't feel as though you have a choice (you may have a choice but you don't feel as though you do).

Be forced to - you have no choice.

Feel forced to - you don't feel as though you have a choice (you may have a choice but you don't feel as though you do).
