Feedback and Score for IELTS Writing Task 2

Many species of animals and plants are in danger of becoming extinct. What are the causes of this problem, and what can be done to prevent it from happening?

The Earth's ecosystems are being significantly affected as many species have become extinct or endangered. There are many factors that contribute to this problem but it is believed that human activity is the main cause of the loss of animal species and their natural habitat. This essay will look through all the causes and suggest some possible solution regarding this issue.

The use of land for agricultural and urban development is one of the most significant factors that affect wildlife. Many trees have been cut down in order to provide land for growing crops or constructing buildings. This, in turn, has shrunk the habitat of wild animals and many of them have died due to the inability to adapt the new environment. Another major cause is the growing need of rare and expensive animal products. A lot of people are fond of fashion accessories such as crocodiles wallets or jewelry made of ivories. As a result, these animals are hunted and their numbers have greatly reduced.

It is vital that the government have solutions to tackle this issue. Firstly, they need to legislate against deforestion and animals hunting. Any illegal activities regarding them must be heavily punished. In addition, they should encourage people to preserve wildlife by not damaging their habitat and limiting the use of products made from wild animals. Moreover, government need to reduce pollution by improving waste management and limiting the CO2 emission from industries so that the natural habitat will not be affected.

To conclude, this is a challenging problem that cannot be solved unless everybody work together. Therefore human being should learn to respect other living creatures and protect their natural habitat so that they will not permanently disappear.
